PAVAN ANNAMARAJU, MD

Dr. Pavan Annamaraju brings diverse expertise to Richmond Nephrology Associates. Trained in New England and on the West Coast of the United States, Dr. Annamaraju has spent most of his career practicing in Virginia. Prior to his move to Richmond, he worked for a non-profit health system in southwest Virginia, where he significantly impacted the communities he served.

Dr. Annamaraju is drawn to nephrology by the variety of kidney conditions and the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with his patients. “I feel blessed and honored to support my patients throughout their healthcare journey—whether it’s long-term care in the office or acute care in the hospital, treating them through dialysis or guiding them through kidney transplantation,” he says.

Dr. Annamaraju believes in enhancing patients’ understanding of their conditions so they are empowered to make informed decisions about their health.

Beyond providing personalized patient care, Dr. Annamaraju has also held leadership roles. He has led initiatives to screen for early detection of kidney disease, raise public awareness, and preserve vascular access for dialysis. His work has earned him accolades from the Medical Society of Virginia and the Business Journal of the Tri-Cities. He is recognized as a Fellow of the National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Nephrology, among others. Additionally, he serves as a Renal Disease Council Member for the Governor’s Administration, advising on the needs of individuals with renal disease in the Commonwealth.

Dr. Annamaraju resides in Richmond with his wife and two young children. He enjoys outdoor activities with his family, including hiking and cycling.
